The Wall Street protesters have a web site called, “We Are The 99 Percent.”   This site permits the supporters and participants of the Wall Street protests (the 99 percent) to submit and publish to the site  handwritten notes of  their own personal hardship stories, apparently all caused by rich corporations.  The idea seems to have been created to generate support for the protesters and to offer insight to the effects of the supposedly injurious behavior by successful corporations and the rich

It appears to me that the  transgressions attributed to Wall Street by some of these people are rather endless and include poor health, bad loans, bankruptcy, credit card debt, huge student loans, no clothing,  hunger, depression, anxiety, single parenthood,  forced adoption, unemployment, foreclosure, taxes, and loss of hope, etc.  Every problem a person could have is blamed on “the rich”  and Wall Street.  Do any of these people take any personal responsibility for their own bad decisions which may have contributed to their situation?

So I will probably get some heat from this, but I am going to post it anyway because maybe it will help some of them to get a different perspective.   I think many of these people don’t seem to understand that the choices we make today, can affect us for many years to come.  Many Americans are hurting and struggling to make ends meet, and some of these stories are truly sad, but some of them just seem like a logical outcome for some really bad decisions.  What do you expect when you take out a school loan for $100,000.00 to earn a degree that will get you $29,000 a year?  Payback is always a bitch, but more so when you only make $29,000 a year.

I do not believe these people should be protesting successful American people and businesses; they should do some serious self-examination and figure out if their own behavior and poor decisions may have contributed to their current predicament.   For the most part, the stories read like a collective whine-fest with the writers complaining about how they have to work for what they want, how they must pay back money they have borrowed, how they have too much anxiety to find a job or keep one.  Come on, now, really?  Grow up.

Now, obviously most people do not have  control over their health problems and I am sorry for anyone dealing with any sickness.  We need to remember that life is hard and bad things do happen, but most bad things are not the result of someone else’s success.

My suggestion to these folks is that instead of writing online anger letters and blocking city streets, they do something constructive like get to know financial guru Dave Ramsey and learn about his philosophy on his website or radio show.  Mr. Ramsey’s specialty is getting people back up and running after tough times such as these.  One could also look for a helping hand at a church, synagogue or community organization, too.  Americans are a good and generous people and will help.

Oh, yeah, maybe they should consider voting  Republican in 2012.

A California company said it    was recalling 90 cartons of  chopped romaine lettuce that  was shipped to Oregon and  then further distributed to  Idaho, Washington and  perhaps elsewhere after the  Food and Drug Administration  found listeria in a sample.

True Leaf Farms said there have been no illnesses linked to the lettuce.
Listeria is very dangerous and is the bacteria behind an ongoing outbreak that has sickened and killed people in several states who ate contaminated cantaloupes that were produced in Colorado.

Just received this fund-raising letter from James Carville in which he likens the Tea Party folk to the wild, out of control, invasive vine species, Kudzu.   James  would like to stick it to the Tea Party Republicans. lol.  Here ya go:

Always helpful in any crisis, actor Sean Penn has set sail for Egypt  to help restore the country’s image as a safe place to be.

U.S. actor Sean Penn joined thousands of Egyptian activists who packed downtown Cairo on Friday demanding that military rulers speed up the transfer of power to civilians and end emergency laws once used by Hosni Mubarak against his opponents.

Penn, holding an Egyptian flag, walked with Egyptian actor Khaled el-Nabawi in Tahrir Square, where Egyptians demonstrated in what they dubbed as “Reclaiming the Revolution” day amid growing discontent over the way military rulers had managed the transitional period.

“The world is inspired by the call for freedom by the courageous revolution of Egypt for its freedom,” Penn said in remarks carried by Al-Ahram newspaper’s online page.   “Clearly that is not a completion overnight, there are still struggles forward, there are constitutional issues, there is… a transition of power from the military to the people,” he added.

Nabawi said he had invited the Oscar-winning Penn to visit Egypt as part of efforts to demonstrate that Egypt was a safe place to visit despite the uprising. “We want to show that Egypt is safe,” Nabawi said.

I don’t care what Sean Penn says, I’m still not going.

First it was feet, now it’s arms.  I don’t know about you, but that suit looks pretty suspicious to me. 

Of course, when all else fails, look for the union label.   It is so ironic that Obama, the man union power helped to elect POTUS,  has maintained an unemployment rate hovering around 9% for quite some time.   And these people have the nerve to want more money and more benefits?  They should be thankful they even have a job when so many do not.

The White House strangely silent on this issue.  Of course, Michelle Obama did go to Target the other day, so she must feel our pain.

The “Occupy Wall Street” protests, now entering their third week, are poised to get a whole lot bigger than its core of 200 to 300 people, potentially even exceeding the protesters original goals of 20,000 demonstrators, thanks to recent pledges of support from some of New York City’s largest labor unions and community groups.

On Tuesday, over 700 uniformed pilots, members of the Air Line Pilots Association, took to the streets outside of Wall Street demanding better pay.

On Wednesday night, the executive board of the New York Transit Workers Union (TWU Local 100), which represents the city’s all-important train and bus workers, voted unanimously to support Occupy Wall Street. TWU Local 100 counts 38,000 active members and covers 26,000 retirees, according to its website.

The Union on Thursday used Twitter to urge members to take part in a massive march and rally on Wednesday, Oct. 5. That effort is being co-sponsored by another eight labor and community outreach organizations.

The Village Voice spoke with TWU Local 100’s spokesman Jim Gannon on Wednesday, who explained the group’s reasons for joining the protests:

“Well, actually, the protesters, it’s pretty courageous what they’re doing,” he said, “and it’s brought a new public focus in a different way to what we’ve been saying along. While Wall Street and the banks and the corporations are the ones that caused the mess that’s flowed down into the states and cities, it seems there’s no shared sacrifice. It’s the workers having to sacrifice while the wealthy get away scot-free. It’s kind of a natural alliance with the young people and the students — they’re voicing our message, why not join them? On many levels, our workers feel an affinity with the kids. They just seem to be hanging out there getting the crap beaten out of them, and maybe union support will help them out a little bit.”

This video has been making the rounds and is being  offered as  proof from the lefties that the NYPD pepper sprayed innocent bystanders during the ongoing Wall Street protests.   The New York Daily News reports an investigation into the pepper spraying incident has been launched, and  that anonymous protesters have made public the personal information of the police officer they claim sprayed the women.  Here’s the video:

If you watch the video, you can devise your own theories as to what happened.  Here’s what I think might have happened:  I think the police officer in question saw the innocent bystander women as they were being corralled into the portable orange holding pen  by the police officers and he came over to offer the poor victims assistance.

As he approached the shrieking, hysterical women, he noticed an overwhelmingly  strong stench of B.O.  Seeing that the odoriferous women’s beckoning arms were upright and outstretched, the officer logically thought they were presenting their unshaven, stench laden pits to him for a quick spray of  official NYPD deodorant.

In the midst of all the chaos and obviously not thinking clearly, he mistakenly pulled out his pepper spray canister, thinking it was the coveted spray deodorant they so desired.  What happened next is simply a tragic case of a good intention gone wrong.  Although the officer sprayed the deodorant/pepper spray directly into the hirsute pits of the innocent women bystanders, the wind kicked up and all hell broke loose.

In a state of shock,  the  shaken officer re-holsters the spray canister and wanders back aimlessly into the crowd.  Of course, I am not saying this is what happened, but only that this is what could have happened.  Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the video as much as we at The Morning Spew did.  Please feel free to leave your theories as to what you think might have happened in the comments.
