Pete’s Chop Suey or Chow Mein



2 oz Butter

1 Lb Pork, cooked – 1/2 dice

1/4 tsp black pepper

1 tsp salt

1 cup Yellow Onions – julienne

1 cup Celery – thinly cut

1 8 oz can Bamboo shoots

1 8 oz can Water Chestnuts

1 14.5 oz can Bean Sprouts

1 cup hot water

2 cups uncooked rice

1 bag Chow Mein Noodles



4 oz Cold Water

2 Tbl cornstarch

2 tsp soy sauce

1 tsp sugar



Prepare rice as per directions

Combine thickening ingredients for sauce

Melt butter and saute onions for 4 – 5 minutes

Add pork, celery, salt, pepper, and hot water to onions

Cover and cook for 5 minutes

Add drained bean sprouts, mix thoroughly, and bring to a boil

Slowly add thickening sauce to pan

Cook for 5 minutes under low heat


Serve over rice and top with chow mein noodles.

Add soy sauce to taste.

Note:  For Chop Suey add a tablespoon of Brown Sauce.
